Henry's Soul Cafe signage
A week ago we broke the news that G & J Deli (317 K St NW) had closed and would reopen as Henry's Soul Cafe. This weekend that inched closer to reality as the G & J signs were replaced with new signage.
Unofficial word is that the Soul Cafe will open on Tuesday December 1st at 10:30 AM.

I am so excited about the cafe opening and have 1 request to the owners (in the off-chance that they read this). Remove the awful flourescent lighting. Heck, grab some cheap lighting from IKEA. The impact, look & feel would be radically different. It would completely change the ambiance for your establishment & make it seem less like a Yum's Carry Out & more like a cafe.
I can say that based on the photo, it doesn't look like much more than a carry-out with tables & not someplace I'd want to sit & enjoy my dinner. Make it more inviting; & your business will reap the benefits! :)
john you TOTALLY read my mind. I was thinking how Taylor's eschewed the nasty lights & made their own beautiful fixtures out of paint buckets & metal drums. Solutions can come dirt cheap.

I admit that I didn't much want to try this spot until I saw the new sign (and phone #).
