Can someone explain to me why the other side of that building is so ugly? (Not visible in these pics.) It appears there's a second phase that can be built on top of it, so I guess I know why. But it's still very unfortunate.
The west end of the building has no windows because it will (eventually) be built next to. I had thought that the plan was to put a mirror of the Sonata on that corner. But the developer really didn't leave themselves much room. Perhaps a new plan will only mirror the rounded corner for symetry then build the rest of the building northward? I don't expect this to move forward anytime soon.
isnt there a power station or a metro vent there? Some sort of utility that restricted the design...
I like it, even the big neon upside down L.
would be nice if AIPAC would take an interest in fixing up the park in front of their building.
@Si - funny you should mention a vent. The post I had queued up for 7am Tuesday discusses this.
What is this building being used for? As it was being built my husband and I kept asking each other about the side with no windows!
@Kimberly - My understanding is that it is an office building with the tenant being American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).
Now if they'd only keep the awesome upside down L LED lights on! What a great vibe it added when they had it lit, but I haven't seen it on for quite awhile now. Please turn it back on and keep it on!!! :) qxezek
